Recipes for the Latest Trends: Colorblocking
Colorblocking has made numerous red carpet appearances, ranging from palettes of bold jewel tones to fun neon options to more muted hues, this trend can be interpreted in so many different ways. The best part? You can create the look from your own closet!
Sabrina Levine loves color just as much as Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. does and her closet is proof of it. It must be our lucky day because today this fashionable University of Southern California student shared a few tips on how to colorblock using the contents of your own closet.
Tip 1: Choose your first block
The simplest method to creating a colorblock outfit is to select a piece and build on it. Have a piece that steals the show? Let it have the spotlight! Sabrina’s bold blue blazer, complete with shoulder pads and sharp tailoring, is a great foundation for an outfit.
The Ingredients:
Tip 2: Building blocks
Add another solidly colored piece to the outfit, creating the colorblock look. If you are new to the trend and not ready to pair two bright colors, try pairing a bright color with a neutral shade.
Tip 3: Try some texture
If you think that wearing only solid colors is boring, play around with different textures! Sabrina’s skirt has a patterned texture that provides interest to the outfit, making it much more than simply a cream-colored skirt. And if you take a closer look at her black skirt, you are able to admire the vertical panels that make up the skirt.
Tip 4: Add accessories
Accessories provide a great opportunity to add another layer of colorblocking to an outfit. Try a boldly colored scarf or bright purse to punch up a look. Sabrina suggests layering a pair of colored tights, or even a pair of white tights as shown here, to achieve a chic look.
Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. is all about making a statement with your personal style! Follow these steps and you’ll be on your way to bold, colorful looks. Just remember to have fun with it and mix it up!

Back to the Future: Oversized is In!
They’re BACK! Boyfriend jackets and oversized sweaters are all the rage again. Trendsetters have been sighted wearing them on the runway, around town, and in Tinseltown. The good news for Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. fans? You can get these oversized looks without having to empty your wallet. Boyfriend jackets are the perfect fit to flatter any body type, and so versatile that you can wear them with almost anything; dress them up by pairing them with jeans and heels, or dress for a casual afternoon at the movies in corduroys and suede boots.
Another style from the 80′s that has made a comeback is the oversized sweater. You may find one or two buried deep in your closet. Simply add an infinity scarf, or some layering, wear them with skinny jeans and you’re good to go! Both boyfriend jackets and oversized sweaters are great for after-holiday casual looks. They also come in handy for January’s colder weather because you can layer a shirt or two underneath either of these pieces to stay cozy and warm.
So, remember to think twice before you clear your closet of old favorites. They may hold promise for a future fashion trend, because you never know when they will come back in style with an exciting new twist…just like Tamagotchi L.i.f.e.! It’s inspired by the original Tamagotchi philosophy with new lifestyle products for those who want to express their personal style. I’m most like Tarakotchi, who can be elusive at times, and is often mysterious. So true!

All About The: Button-Down Top
When you think of button-down shirts, images of men dressed in suits with briefcases in hand are likely to come to mind. But this menswear staple is becoming a staple in women’s closets. The button-down top is no longer limited to the conventional white version, as designers offer their takes on the business casual classic. And with such a variety of button-down styles, it can now be worn for a number of occasions. But the best part is that the shirt’s professional roots still shine through, giving any outfit a polished look.
These are some of my favorite takes on the button-down top—capturing the range of styles that can be found in your local mall. Just as Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. has a great appreciation of color, don’t be afraid to mix it up and add some colorful accents to create a trendy twist on these classic styles!
Fun Prep
Echoing the iconic Ralph Lauren button-down, this green version switches things up and ends the buttoning mid-torso.
Wear it: with a pair of skinny cropped pants or jeans. Go with flats for the full prep effect or a pair of Converse for a more utilitarian aesthetic.
Free-Spirit
The pinstripes may remind you of the office original, but this version’s lightweight material and loose fit sets it apart from its predecessor.
Wear it: untucked and get the full billowy effect. For an effortlessly cool look, pair it with denim cut-off shorts.
Grunge
Perhaps the most well known update to the button-down is the nineties’ grunge staple, the denim button-down.
Wear it: buttoned, unbuttoned, sleeves rolled up, with a pair of pants, or even a dress…the possibilities are endless.
Artsy
It’s the little details that make this button-down seem as if it should be hanging in an art gallery. From the semi-sheer silk fabric to the watercolor-esque purple stripes—fashionistas and art lovers alike can appreciate this top.
Wear it: with a cami layered underneath. A neutral toned cami puts the button-down in the spotlight, while a colored cami makes for a fun look.
Glam Rock
Tie-dyed, 100% silk, and cutoff sleeves, this version is a far cry from the original. But that means it’s also a far cry from the confines of a cubicle—so, wear it out for some fun!
Wear it: out. Whether you choose to pair it with heels, flats, or boots, one thing is for sure…you won’t be mistaken for a businessman.

Behind the Scenes of an Actresses’ Photo Shoot
Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. is about being fashion forward and here is a behind the scenes sneak peek of a recent photo shoot. One of the biggest essentials of a photo shoot is hair! Especially for us ladies because it can dramatically affect our appearance. Styling the hair was simple enough, curl a strand and then pin it up to hold the curl, so it looks like it is in a roller. Then repeat the process until all the hair has been put up. Bobby pins are also an important factor for hair because it is what keeps up the curls. Now this may look funny right now, but the results are beautiful! With the hair pinned up, this is the perfect time to apply make-up. Since this photo shoot was for headshots, a more natural look is preferred. Agents recommend that you don’t try to look like a different person on your headshot, so keep the make up to a minimum, using a bit of foundation, eye liner, eye shadow, lipstick, and mascara. After applying the make-up, the hair can now be undone for a natural, freestyle look. It was a fun day shooting in-studio and outdoors-lots of looks in different lighting. I prefer the outdoor natural lighting, but we’ll see what my agent says. I’ll keep you posted on my next shoot!
